The Social Security Administration (SSA) is set to launch a digital version of the Social Security card by early summer 2025. This initiative allows individuals with a “my Social Security” account to securely access and view their Social Security number (SSN) online, offering a convenient alternative to the traditional physical card.
This digital access aims to assist those who have forgotten their SSN or misplaced their physical card, reducing the need for in-person visits or waiting for a replacement card to arrive by mail. Users can access their SSN through the my Social Security portal on both computers and mobile devices.
Acting Commissioner Lee Dudek emphasized that this enhancement reflects the SSA’s commitment to providing better service while ensuring personal information remains secure. While this digital feature streamlines the process for those needing their SSN, it also reinforces the SSA’s dedication to protecting sensitive information.
To utilize this feature, individuals must create and verify a my Social Security account. For more information or to set up an account, visit the SSA’s official website.
