The 2025 Social Security cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) is now in effect. Seniors will see an extra $600 this year, or about an average increase of $50 per month.
It should be noted that this number may be different from your precise amount. Benefit totals vary based on the earner’s income history, claim date, and other factors.
Some may say that the 2.5 percent COLA is a disappointment, especially when you compare it to previous numbers like the 3.2, 8.7, and 5.9 percent, from 2024, 2023, and 2022 respectively.
This number looks especially small when a person views it alongside today’s rising prices. It’s all a matter of perspective, and we want to hear yours. What do you think of the 2025 COLA?
