Why Seniors Should Speak Out About Social Security in 2025

We here at the Council for Retirement Security are sounding the alarm — we all need to begin petitioning and making our voices heard. If we don’t, Social Security could continue falling short for America’s seniors.

Despite prices continuing to soar, the Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) was underwhelming this past year. And should the trend continue with the upcoming 2026 announcement, it would mark the fifth consecutive year that the number has fallen, which is a troubling parallel given the current economy.

The COLA needs to be higher this coming year. What’s more, Social Security support needs to improve. This is true for both general customer service needs and for the correction of errors, such as overpayments and the clawbacks that follow.

Sign our Social Security Lock-Box Petition to protect retirement benefits for all. There’s still time to make 2025 a year where seniors are heard, and changes are made to the program we’ve all paid into.
