Social Security disability benefits help millions of people. But millions more have struggled to qualify. These issues stem from outdated data about jobs that no longer exist.
Previously, applicants would be told they were still able to work, and thus denied benefits. This was true even if the jobs suggested for them were positions that had been gone from the economy for years.
But now these outdated measures will be gone, thanks to a new update. Now more people will be able to qualify. Yet, this isn’t the only change to expect.
Other proposed legislation would make it easier for benefit recipients to work part-time, with a refined system that ensures their income levels and benefit amounts don’t conflict.
