To prove you’re alive is a pretty easy task — except when it comes to dealing with bureaucracy.
The Social Security Administration (SSA) incorrectly declared this man deceased. Thankfully, he’s alive and well. But unfortunately, he’s dealt with a nightmare because of this mix up.
He realized something was wrong when his application for a mortgage was denied. When he was informed that the reason for the rejection was that he was dead, he was stunned — and very much alive.
Now his credit is no more, which has made a number of routine tasks a headache. And at 56, he’ll struggle to rebuild his credit. The SSA still hasn’t straightened out the error, and as we’ve covered, other people have suffered similar problems.
What do you think about this mistake? What would you do if it happened to you?
