Why Seniors Should Speak Out About Social Security in 2024

We here at the Council for Retirement Security are sounding the alarm — we all need to begin petitioning and making our voices heard. If we don’t, Social Security could continue falling short for America’s seniors.

Despite prices continuing to soar, the cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) is less than half of what it was this past year. While some metrics for estimating the COLA have improved compared to where they were at the peak of COVID and lockdowns, the economy is still rough.

The COLA needs to be higher this coming year. What’s more, Social Security support needs to improve. This is true for both general customer service needs and for the correction of errors, such as overpayments and the clawbacks that follow.

Sign our Social Security Lock-Box Petition to protect retirement benefits for all. Let’s make 2024 a year where seniors are heard, and changes are made to the program we’ve all paid into.
